For me the Thai driving license was important because I love motorcycling and I’m used to having a car. The easiest way is to apply for the international driver’s license in your home country, with which you then avoid having to repeat the driving test in Thailand. After an info video in the Transportation Office, a color and reaction test you get the Thai driver’s license valid for one year. After a year you do the tests again (reaction, color) and then you get a driver’s license for 5 years, which can then be extended again.
In addition to the Int’l driver’s license, you must bring other papers with you:
- a medical certificate issued within the last month
- Your ID such as your passport or Thai ID card
- Proof of residence (this can be a house registration, a valid work permit or a confirmation of residence from your embassy or an international organization within the last six months)
