If you are entitled to a German pension payment from the statutory pension or accident insurance and live abroad, you will receive a letter every year from June / July with your pension adjustment notification as well as your personalized life certificate form. The life certificate consists of a part A and part B.
This will be signed by you, confirmed by an official body and returned in the original to Deutsche Post AG Renten Service.

Who can confirm a certificate of life?
Certificates of life can usually be confirmed abroad by the following official bodies:
Thai authorities (e.g. municipal/city administrations, police, etc.)
Banks
Hospitals/retirement homes/Red Cross
Parish offices
In principle, you should primarily visit the above-mentioned offices to confirm the life certificate. Alternatively, you can also visit the German Embassy in Bangkok.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., counter 14.
Appointments are NOT required for life certificates.

The issuance of life certificates is free of charge for a German statutory pension, a pension payment from a previous service or employment relationship in the public service, a compensation payment and a statutory pension from a member state of the EU or EEA or Switzerland. A fee of €34.07 is charged for life certificates for a company or private pension (also VBL pension) or additional pension.
In order to issue the certificate, you must generally appear in person and present a valid identification document.
If you do not use the form sent by the insurance provider, please also submit your pension certificate.
